Big on Energy has confirmed Southampton’s position as one of the country’s major players in tackling climate change.

In association with Uliticom, the cutting edge conference was held on Monday 9th June 2008 at the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel, Southampton.

The Conference was both represented and attended by members of Defra, Greenpeace, The Carbon Trust, the LGA Environment Board, Energywatch, as well as countless borough councils and local authorities.

Supporting the conference, Benet Northcote, Chief Policy Advisor for Greenpeace said,

“Southampton is a remarkable example of how business and local government can work together to deliver a real solution to climate change. If every council in the UK undertook a similar commitment, then we might stand a chance of stopping catastrophic climate change.”

As well as hearing from keynote speakers and participating in seminar based workshops, delegates also had the opportunity to visit the Southampton District Energy Scheme, which is leading the UK decentralised energy.
