Commissioners receive their mid-term reports

A recent mid-term report on the Barroso 2 commission did not, it seems, go down too well with all the EU commissioners.
One who was certainly not best pleased was Androulla Vassiliou, the official responsible for education, culture and youth.
In the report, by Brussels-based consultants Burson Marsteller, the Cypriot scored a lowly C- on her overall performance since taking up office a year ago.
In terms of her "commitment" to the job, she did slightly better, scoring a C+.
But a well-placed source tells us that she was still unhappy so much so that she asked her press staff why respondents to the survey, including MEPs and EU officials, had not rated her higher.
The source quipped, "Let's face it, she has been pretty low profile over the past year. It might help if she did something that, shall we say, was more headline-grabbing."
For the record, Barroso, her boss, scored only a C+ in the BM survey.
