Europe's got talent

She may be more used to battling red tape than strutting up the red carpet, but European commissioner Androulla Vassiliou looked every inch the glamorous movie star when she was pictured in Cannes this weekend.

Indeed, the culture commissioner came up trumps on the commission calendar today, meeting with renowned European directors on the French Riviera to discuss issues such as the future of EU funding for the industry.

Some may argue that the EU's previous Cannes doyenne Viviane Reding may now be faced with a more pressing portfolio as commission vice-president for justice and fundamental rights.

But, as this picture suggests, she took the business of red carpet equally seriously during her time as Europe's media chief.

So, which maestro of the backcomb does glitz and glamour best? Which other commissioners would you like to see try their hand in Cannes in the coming years? And who do you think would be best kept within the confines of a dark Brussels boozer?
