Aluminium is one of the best performing and most sustainable materials, thanks to its unique properties. Infinitely recyclable and extremely versatile, aluminium significantly contributes to meeting the needs of the modern society through a wide range of applications, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
In order to document its efforts towards a competitive, environmentally friendly and growing industry, since 2002 the European Aluminium Association (EAA) has been regularly reporting over thirty measurable Sustainable Development Indicators (SDI) on the production of aluminium.
The Parliament Magazine was pleased to present a discussion in association with the EAA on the publication and launch of the report “Sustainability of the European aluminium industry 2010”, which for the first time also coverd the use of aluminium in key applications.
The event was a unique opportunity to learn about the SDI results and to engage with EU policy makers, stakeholders and industry representatives on the benefits and challenges facing the aluminium industry in Europe.
