Supporting local communities: what role for Europe’s brewers?
Although beer is a product consumed across the world, Europe's brewers have been and continue to be firmly rooted within their local communities, supporting a considerable range of small activities – from town festivals to local amateur sports clubs.
While 'big ticket' sponsorship of sporting and cultural events captures the media spotlight, the reality is that the majority of support from Europe's brewers takes place at local and regional levels.
A new report, commissioned by The Brewers of Europe, examines and put some numbers to the long tradition that Europe's brewers have of contributing to society through support, financial and otherwise, to activities in the areas of the arts, culture, innovation and science, as well as sport. The report looks at how important that involvement is to the brewing sector, event organisers and local communities.
Community involvement – working hand in hand?
The new report is the first ever attempt made to analyse and quantify the extent of the brewing sector's support to Europe's local communities.
Roundtable debate: Relevance and importance of Brewers' support
The European Parliament Beer Club, in association with the Parliament Magazine, invited Members of the European Parliament and other key stakeholders to join this discussion hosted by Sean Kelly MEP- at the launch of the new report - on the continuing importance of brewers' involvement at community level.
