Spanish science and innovation minister Cristina Garmendia chairs an informal meeting of competitiveness ministers taking place in Kursaal today. Minister Garmendia presents the Donostia declaration on "Science for economic growth and recovery: here and now", and ministers discuss the challenges of the European research space and the role science can play in economic growth and recovery. There is a press conference following the meeting.
EU president Herman Van Rompuy meets with Philippe Maystadt, president of the European Investment Bank, for talks in Brussels.
Janez Potocnik, commissioner-designate for environment, meets with Jacqueline McGlade, executive director of the European Environment Agency for roundtable talks in Brussels.
Outgoing agriculture and rural affairs commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel announces the winning design for the EU organic logo in Brussels.
