Chris Davies blasts “divisive and dangerous” Greenpeace carbon capture report

A Greenpeace report - "False Hope" - published on Monday May 5th that claims that the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology is a "scam" has been condemned by Chris Davies, the MEP responsible for steering the legislation through the European parliament.

Daul attacks socialists for condoning Slovak violations of press freedom

EPP-ED group chair Joseph Daul has strongly condemned what he calls the opportunistic and irresponsible decision of the European Socialists and the comments of Hannes Swoboda MEP, following which the new Slovak press law was acceptable and compatible with "European conditions".

Parliament president Hans-Gert Pöttering has strongly condemned the assault ON Tuesday evening in Dublin on Irish MEP Proinsias De Rossa by a group of anti-Lisbon Treaty protesters.

More women scientists needed in Europe says women's rights and gender equality committee

The European parliament’s committee on women's rights and gender equality adopted on Monday a report on the under-representation of women in the world of science. The report calls for mainstreaming of the male-female dimension in research programmes, support for scientific careers for women and a gender balance on decision-making bodies.

Greens question President Pöttering about stealth lobbyists in parliament

Two weeks ago, the Greens/EFA group in the European parliament wrote to the parliament president Hans-Gert Pöttering with a question regarding the activities of the European business and parliament scheme (EPBS). The letter is yet to receive a response.

ALDE group backs ombudsman in his battle for transparency

The European ombudsman, Nikiforos Diamandouros, this morning presented his 2007 annual activity report and pointed out an increase in complaints directed at the European institutions, including the European parliament.
