Political groups week and committee meetings - Brussels

Hans-Gert Pöttering visits Peru
. The EP President will bein Lima for an official visit to Peru, including meetings withPresident Alan Garcia, members of the government andparliamentarians, among others (Thursday). He will then take partin the EU – Latin America and Caribbean summit which takes place inthe Peruvian capital (Friday).

Dominique Strauss-Kahn
. The Managing Director of theInternational Monetary Fund will meet MEPs from the Economic andMonetary Affairs Committee for a discussion on the financial marketturmoil of recent months. (Thursday)

Preparing for the plenary. Parliament's politicalgroups will devote most of the week to preparations for the plenarysession of 19-22 May in Strasbourg. The main items on the agendainclude the interim report of Parliament's Temporary Committee onClimate Change and a report on Turkey's progress towards EUaccession, plus legislation on transport, covering access to theroad freight market, rules on passenger road transport andlicensing for transport operators.

Pre-plenary briefing. Any changes to the plenaryagenda will be announced at the regular press briefing withParliament's Press Service and the spokespeople of the politicalgroups on hand to comment at 11am on Friday (room PHS 0A050).

Whitsun holiday
. Parliament's offices in Brussels areclosed on Monday 12 May for the Whitsun holiday.
