Greens launch election fight
Europe’s united Green parties went all guns blazing for European election victory on Wednesday, slamming Bush and Berlusconi, with support from Bianca Jagger and Jane Birkin.
The anti-nuclear, anti-GM party seemed to have gone for a combination of glamour and ridicule in a bid to win as many seats as possible in the June European elections.
Perhaps forgetting which election campaign they were waging, one poster shows a repeated image of US president George W Bush’s face, with the caption: ‘Your vote against cloning’.
While another has Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi gagged by a Green’s logo reading ‘Your vote stops corruption’.
Jagger - human rights activist and ex-wife of a Rolling Stone - was unfortunately unable to make the occasion.
But she joined the woman who sang the breathy song “Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus” in a video message wishing the Greens well.
