More change on EU executive

EU environment chief Margot Wallström is set to return to Brussels in November.

Speaking on Wednesday Wallström revealed that Swedish leader Goran Persson has told her there was "a big chance they will appoint me".

The environment commissioner has has made no secret of her desire to secure another term in office but doubts remain over Stockholm's enthusiasm for a second Wallström innings .

Elswehere on the EU's executive Finland has decided on Helsinki's replacment for Erkki Liikanen.

The enterprising Finn is departing Brussels to take up the top job at his country's central bank.

His temporary substitute as industry commissioner until José Durão Barroso forms a new EU executive in November is Olli Rehn.

Rehn leaves a Helsinki post as economic policy advisor to Finnish leader Matti Vanhanen.
