Anglo American plc notification:AngloGold Ashanti results for the 6 months ended 30 June 2006

Anglo American wishes to draw attention to AngloGold Ashanti's announcement of their interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2006.

Anglo American will report underlying earnings in respect of AngloGold Ashanti of US2 million for the six months ended 30 June 2006, which takes into account certain adjustments and reflects the change in ownership percentage on 20 April 2006.
