ROMGAZ, IZGAZ AND GAZBIR, THREE NEW MEMBERS OF EUROGAS

Romgaz, the main Romanian natural gas production and storage company, Izgaz, a leading natural gas distribution company in Turkey and GAZBIR, the Turkish national association of natural gas distribution companies have joined Eurogas in September 2006 as associate members.

S.N.G.N. Romgaz S.A. is a joint stock company active in the production and underground storage of natural gas. It is the most important natural gas producer and supplier in Romania providing 41,2% share of the national gas market. The main activities carried out by the company are the exploration for new gas reserves, production of natural gas, storage and commercialisation.

Izgaz is a leading natural gas distribution company in Turkey. It is supplied with natural gas by the trade and supply company, Botas, which is already an associate member of Eurogas. Izgaz is situated in the district of Kocaeli where it distributes natural gas to industrial end customers. Around 1,1 billion cubic meters of natural gas are estimated to be distributed before the end of 2006. This volume is expected to double in 2007.

GAZBIR is the Turkish national association of natural gas distribution companies. It is registered as a non-profit national organization and is based in Ankara. It represents thirty nine licensed natural gas distribution companies in Turkey. Its main aims are to promote the effective and safe distribution of natural gas, to promote the establishment of a competitive natural gas market and to integrate its distribution activity in the European natural gas market.
