ExianEvident 3D
Providing enhanced features and cost-effective materials for themost secure identification card Secure credentials are the mosttangible component of driver licence and ID card issuance.
Every issuer knows that the most secure end-to-end issuanceprocesses fall short if the card fails. That?s why Digimarc createdthe Exian card line, a series of cards designed to be the mostsecure at the best value, by incorporating unique materials, carddesign, and a wide range of supported security features.
The newest addition to the Exian Card offerings is DigimarcExianEvident 3D, a centrallyissued card with the highestsecurity-to-cost ratio available. Specifically designed to addressgrowing terrorism and identity theft threats, ExianEvident 3D isthe result of experience gained during the production of more than60 million IDs a year. Built upon tamper-evident base materialscombined with multiple personalization techniques and linked andlayered security features, ExianEvident 3D is virtually impossibleto alter or duplicate.
Understanding the needs of today?s drivers licence and ID cardissuer
With the driver licence rapidly becoming the de factoidentification credential, the EU using ID cards and the more andmore countries adopting national ID cards or voters registrationcards for this purpose, today?s ID card issuers need the ability tooffer a credential that is easy to validate and impossible toduplicate?while creating a card they and their citizens can afford. With this in mind, Digimarc built ExianEvident 3D to be the mostcost-effective and secure card available to these issuers.
A new level of security
ExianEvident 3D is a breakthrough in driver licence and ID cardsecurity, providing issuers with a card architecture that will helpdefend against counterfeiting and fraud threats. In fact, theExianEvident 3D card ensures that any attempt to break into thecard renders it useless to would be counterfeiters.
Increasing security without increasing costs
ExianEvident 3D meets the needs of today?s ID issuers, who arestruggling with providing more and more secure credentials withoutincreased budgets. ExianEvident 3D can be delivered at asubstantially lower cost than polycarbonatebased cards?whileproviding a higher level of security.
Digital watermarking interlocks security
features, assists validation A critical component of theExianEvident 3D Card?s architecture, Digimarc IDMarc? digitalwatermarking has been incorporated into more than 25 million driverlicences, provides powerful cross-jurisdictional machineauthentication, and ensures credential integrity by fusing togetherthe features on the card.

Digimarc ExianEvident 3D (EE3D) cards provide the highest levelof security at the best value.
Designed to specifically address growing terrorism and identitytheft threats, ExianEvident 3D incorporates tamper-evident basematerials, combined with multiple personalisation techniques andlinked and layered security features, making it virtuallyimpossible to alter or duplicate.

ExianEvident 3D Glossary
Banknote-Style Security Design
These security designs use fine line pre-printing and coloursthat are difficult to reproduce.
The use of spot colour printing, as opposed to 4 colour processprinting, allows the observer to notice colour and dot patterndifferences.
3D Tactile Feature
Unique personalisation method which creates a raised surfaceresulting in a variable, transparent, tactile feature. Inspectorscan feel and see it to quickly validate the authenticity of thedocument. Using the applicant?s data, it can be cross authenticatedwith the personalised information on the core of the card ormachine readable data for extra security.
Fixed Laser Perforation
Analogous to a paper watermark on the highest quality paper, itis not noticeable until held up to the light. It can be a fixedemblem, number or letters, positioned anywhere on the document.
Digimarc IDMarc?
A covert machine-readable security feature embedded withingraphic elements of an identity document. IDMarc is based ondigital watermarking, the ability to embed digital data within adocument in a way that is imperceptible in normal use. A digitalwatermark transforms multiple passive elements of a document intoan interlocking security layer at the time of personalisation. Thistransformation does not require additional document real estate andis compatible with almost all existing document designs, substratesand printers. Detection is secured by cryptographic techniques andallows for fast and reliable cross-jurisdictional authentication indifferent fields of use including forensic analysis and ageinspection.
Laser Engraving
A personalisation method which uses a laser to produce visiblecarbon black and/or tactile presentations which cannot bemechanically or chemically removed without surface damage to thecard. The ExianEvident material characteristics provide a mediathat is suitable for laser engraving variable data such as theapplicant?s signature or portrait.
Micro-printing
Commonly found on national currencies, micro-printingcomplicates any attempt at photocopying due to the resolutionrequired to recreate the feature. It can be read with an eight (8x)power magnifier.
Out-of-Gamut Micro-print Based Image
During the pre-print process, opaque inks are used to create agraphic that will be ?out-of-gamut,? (not reproducible on scanners, photocopiers and printers). These conventional devices havelimitations to the total number of colors they can produce due totheir ink range. The feature also incorporates micro-print withinthe image and fluoresces under UV light.
Split Fountain Printing
Occurs when two or more inks are placed into a press inkfountain using separators. The inks blend into each other duringthe printing process and create the gradations that make up therainbow effect.
Tri-Color OVD (Optical Variable Device)
Consists of three optically variable inks that appear anddisappear with variation in the angle of viewing
