Gas Transmission Europe GTE is representing the Transmission System Operators. The GTE President is Jacques Laurelut.

Focusing on the needs of the users of the gas transmission networks (shippers), GTE's main objective is to contribute to increase customers' satisfaction. GTE aims to achieve this conditional upon the safe and efficient utilization of the net work sand based on non-discriminatory and transparent access. GTE perceives a role for itself in the European context in facilitating and promoting a fully operational integrated European gas market.

The Third package envisages a new framework to better enable progress towards liberalised and open European markets for gas and electricity A part of it is also establishing of European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG). GTE has already started the process of working towards the creation of the envisaged ENTSOG when establishing GTE+ structure and developing GTE+ projects.
