Med-Vet-Net is a Network of Excellence that aims to integrateresearch on the prevention and control of zoonoses in the field offood safety.

Med-Vet-Net comprises 16 European partners and over 300scientists in 10 countries. For the first time, veterinary, medicaland food scientists are developing collaborative projects andintegrating research across the food chain.

Med-Vet-Net scientists are focusing their research projects onepidemiology and risk research, host-microbe interactions,detection and control, and participation in these projects isenabling the sharing and enhancement of their knowledge andskills.

Med-Vet-Net began on 1 September 2004, and is funded by theEuropean Union (EU) 6th Framework Programme for five years.
