As an industry and technologyleader, Microsoft works closely with public and private sectorpartners throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) tohelp everyone from enterprise customers and governments toeducational institutions and non-governmental bodies to meetbusiness, social and economic challenges and realise the potentialof their organisations and their people.
When we first established offices in EMEA, back in1983, we had only three subsidiaries serving the region: the UK,France and Germany. From those roots, our presence in the regionhas grown to include offices in 53 countries, employing over 12,000people.
Local Commitment
Our commitment to EMEA is to enable people to do new things. By making tools that are built on principles of openness, that are designed to be easier to use and more secure, we can empower people to protect their systems, data and personal information. We aim to help everyone from enterprise customers and governments to educational institutions and non-governmental organisations discover new ways to think, work and create.
Our commitment to the region is why our biggest softwaredevelopment centre outside of the US is located in Europe, why some19 local-language MSN sites exist to serve EMEA?sculturally and linguistically diverse population, and why one ofour key research centres is located in Cambridge, England.
