Employment Week: Making Europe work

10th April 2005

The Parliament Magazine has produced a special edition in partnership with Employment Week 2005.

The magazine examines some of the political options that will make or break the EU’s efforts to create six million jobs by 2010.

Europe must build employment on growth if the EU is to make good on five-year old Lisbon economic pledges.

And more jobs will be critical to persuade Europe’s citizens of the benefits of structural reforms aimed at liberalisation and making labour markets more flexible.

As debates over ‘social’ Europe, the Services Directive, EU workplace regulation and reform take off, the EU presidency, MEPs and commentators look at policy trends and prospects for employment in the years ahead.
