I have been restrained so far but have decided to speak out

Edward McMillan-Scott

Ousted Tory MEP Edward McMillan-Scott has ruled out joining the EPP, parliament's biggest political group.

He said he had held discussions with the group but would not join it.

He also insisted his expulsion from the UK Conservative party was "unlawful, unconstitutional and against natural justice".

"I have been restrained so far but have decided to speak out because I feel outraged at the way I have been treated," said the deputy, who now sits as an independent.

He was expelled after he stood against Pole Michal Kaminski for a vice-president post in parliament because of Kaminski's alleged anti-Semitic views.

The British deputy was elected to the post and Kaminski now leads the ECR group.

Addressing journalists in Brussels, McMillan-Scott said he had since been "sent to Coventry" by some of his former Tory colleagues.

"I am not invited to Tory party events and even the pens that used to bear my name have been removed from parliament," he said.

He said he had "no regrets" at standing against Kaminski, adding, "I would do the same again tomorrow."

He added, "I am not seeking to be a victim in all of this but merely to state my case."
