EU predicts food prices to stabilise
The IHT reports that the EU’s agriculture chief expects worldfood prices to stabilise below peak levels, but warned thatspeculation has been a leading cause of increases and could fuelfurther instability.
"We saw some huge peaks (in prices) from late August, September andOctober," agriculture commissioner Mariann Fischer told reportersin Warsaw.
"They might come back to a certain extent, but we expect thatprices will stabilize at a level that is a bit below the peaks thatwe have seen."
