French students take to the streets over school spending cuts

El País reports on disturbances in Paris on Tuesday, when thousands of secondary school students took to the streets to protest at cuts in public spending.

According to the paper, president Nicolas Sarkozy’s plans for the public sector include axing 11,200 jobs in the secondary education system by next year.

Libération says the demonstration is the sixth of its kind in less than three weeks.

Meanwhile, Le Monde says that a new law due to come into force on the 1st of May means around 4.5 million French families will lose out on child support payments for teenagers.
