Women outnumber men in new Spanish cabinet
The Guardian reports that re-elected Socialist prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero has nominated Spain’s first female-dominated government.
Nine out of his 17 cabinet ministers will be women, says Le Monde, and adds that it’s also the first time in Spanish history that a women will become minister for defence.
El País doesn’t report on the female to male ratio in the cabinet, but does say that ministers have been charged with the first item on their agenda: dealing with the economic slowdown.
