Serbs set to turn away from EU
The Guardian reports that Sunday’s Serbian poll will be abitterly contested election, with the country’s prime ministeraccusing the president of treason and preparing to head agovernment that turns its back on the rest of Europe.
It has become clear that the increasingly nationalist and anti-EUprime minister, Vojislav Kostunica, will emerge victorious onSunday and is expected to form a government loaded with extremists, the paper says.
EU leaders have futilely attempted to influence the vote towardsthe pro-European president Boris Tadic.
But most analysts, the papers adds, believe that Sunday's electionwill see a return to the isolation of the 1990s under SlobodanMilosevic.
