OECD chief calls for international consensus on climate change
Angel Gurria, the president of the Paris-based OECD, has called on governments to put aside national interests and work together to tackle climate change. In an interview with Liberation, he calls for companies and countries to work together for the greater public good – for example by renouncing intellectual property rights on new technologies such as renewables.
He also calls for carbon taxes to help reduce pollution levels, and an end to subsidies in areas such as intensive agriculture, which can lead to increased emissions.
