Frattini quits EU to become Italian foreign minister
As widely expected, EU justice chief Franco Frattini has handed in his notice to take up a post in the Italian cabinet.
French MEP Alain Lamassoure has called on the EU to take a look at the way it treats its citizens, and wants the French presidency to make "citizens" a firm priority.
Parliament’s president Hans-Gert Pöttering is said to be a possible candidate to become Germany’s next EU commissioner.
