Ireland still worried about EU treaty's effect on tax

The Irish referendum commission has said that the Lisbon treaty will not take away the country’s veto over EU demands to change its business tax regime, says the Irish Times.

The referendum commission, an independent body put in place to administrate the vote on the Lisbon treaty, will send out explanatory leaflets to Irish homes from May to set out the treaty’s main points.

Meanwhile, the Irish Independent says that research published by the referendum commission Monday showed that 80 per cent of Irish voters do not understand the Lisbon treaty.
