New Irish PM urges voters to support Lisbon treaty
Ireland's new prime minister Brian Cowen on Monday began hisparty's campaign to urge voters to support the Lisbon treaty innext month's referendum, reports the IHT.
"It would be a very backward step to resign from the strategicpolitical positioning we have established in 35 years of (EU)membership," Cowen told journalists. "It would have very seriousimplications."
