EU heads for row over poultry feed
The Guardian reports that the EU is preparing plans to allow pigremains to be used to feed poultry.
It reports officials as saying the practice - banned in Europeafter the BSE crisis 10 years ago - would save farmers money asprices of cereal feed for chickens soar.
But the proposal has outraged animal rights campaigners, Muslimorganisations and other groups. They claim the move would putfamilies at risk, offend religious sensibilities and lead to amajor consumer backlash.
