Bulgaria gets tough on organised crime
Bulgaria has set up an investigative unit targeting organisedcrime, reports the Daily Telegraph.
The papers says the move follows a wave of unsolved contractkillings and allegations of official collusion in mafia networksstretching as far as Britain.
Recent investigations by the EU, the US justice department andwithin Bulgaria, showed that the country's crime gangs had a keyrole in European trafficking of everything from sex slaves toantiquities.
