EU reaches definitive agreement on aircraft emissions
The EU reached a landmark agreement Thursday to place a limit on emissions from aircraft, with means all airlines coming from or flying to EU airports are obliged to buy pollution credits from 2012, reports the IHT.
However, the agreement to set a limit on emissions, which is the first requirement of its kind, has caused tensions with the US, which says that the rules probably would be illegal under the convention governing international civil aviation.
