Romania set to join GM crop ban
Romania has said it will join six other member states in banning the only EU-approved genetically modified crop, reports the FT.
Romanian environment minister Attila Korodi called for a moratorium on planting MON810, a corn produced by US biotech company Monsanto, and said his country's biosecurity committee would start examining the possibility of a ban on April 15.
Le Monde reports that Korodi told a French news agency that something had to be done as there were too many unanswered questions surrounding the cultivation of GM crops in Romania.
