The EU's insurance industry supervisor EIOPA has warned that policymaker delays to Europe's overhaul of insurance regulations threaten to undermine the entire project, says the FT.

According to the paper, senior MEPs and the head of the European insurance and occupational pensions authority Gabriel Bernardino have written to the commission, warning that any more delays could jeopardise plans for a single EU rule book.

The commission responded by conceding that the delays had put some "pressure" on the plans, but said that the intended implementation date of the start of 2014 was "still achievable".
