A new YouGov poll shows a clear majority of British people would choose to leave the EU in a referendum.

It says 47 per cent of people polled saying they would vote for Britain to leave the EU.

The poll, which took place on 8 and 9 September, asked how respondents would vote if there was a referendum on EU membership.

Some 33 per cent said they would vote for the UK to remain a member of the EU while 14 per cent said they did not know how they would vote.
